For seven April days
golden maple pollen,
an offering of this exuberant spring,
has drifted
and dusted all
like a blessing

something good
fertilization
pollination
fairy dust
flowers
winged seeds
maple syrup
hardwood

Japanese red maples
Dressed in bronzed filagree
Sugar maple, Paper bark
Bigleaf, Vine maple
roots run wide
holding the soil
holding the tree
brushing the sky
golden clusters sway
fairly glowing
amid cedars
and douglas fir
on river banks, road sides
on the south side
the sunny side
stretching for light
