ART, STILL LIFE & TRAVEL (Italy and Mexico)

TEE LAKE REVERIE

We cross over into an Eden
more finely furbished
than a room filled
with Renaissance tapestries and Persian carpets,
scenes woven with fiber and husk,
birch and fir, both quick and dead.

Emerald and pearl green moss
stand on curvaceous granite,
Maiden hair brushed into
Sun caressed highlights.
Energy sings over the lake,
a duet of light and shadow
on silent steeped water
stirs fathoms in our souls.

Our canoe moves magically
as though we aren't present.
But how magnificently
present we are
to these sun-gilded moments--
embracing impressions
so deep
and dear,
in my mind's eye, tears fall.

Sweet tension comes with awareness
this exquisite passage will end
as does the repose of a blue heron
we surprise at the mouth of the lake.
